 In a project for the Office of Naval Research, Anacapa developed a web-based, commercially-available assessment test of multi-tasking ability called the Multi-Tasking Ability Test (MTAT) to predict performance in multi-tasking job environments. The test takes the form of a 15-minute game and does not require any prior domain-specific knowledge. In developing the test, extensive construct and criterion-based validation studies were conducted, and issues related to current standards and requirements for psychological and educational tests. These studies were conducted with personnel in jobs including police emergency dispatching, air traffic control, emergency room nursing, Navy boat operation and navigation, and airline pilot training.
